Common Signals Get in touch

An independent, neutral evidence base for public understanding of AI.

Common Signals exists to close one gap: the public‑facing layer that every other part of AI safety and AI governance quietly assumes someone else is building.

What we believe

A public that understands AI well enough to shape it.

Vision

A world where the public understands AI well enough to shape it, not just live with what it becomes.

Mission

We build the shared, neutral evidence base for public understanding of AI: tested messages, mapped messengers and trained communicators, given away to everyone working on this.

Our approach

Evidence beats instinct, including our own.

Most people trying to explain AI to the public work from instinct, because that's what's available. We test claims and messengers against real audiences before recommending anything, and we publish what we find even when it contradicts what the field assumes.

That's the whole method: segment the public by values rather than demographics, test what actually moves each segment, map who they already trust, and give the results away.
