Which AI attitudes segment are you?

A working demo of a segmentation calculator for AI attitudes: answer ten questions, and it plots you against six illustrative segments. It's a real, working mechanic. The segments are not real findings.

The six segments below are placeholders we built to test the mechanic, not the output of a survey. Common Signals hasn't run its pilot study yet. Real, evidence-based audience segments for AI attitudes will be published once it has, and this page will be replaced with the genuine article.

How this demo calculates your result

Two scores are calculated from your answers: preference for order and stability (from questions 1 to 5) and trust in institutions and experts (from questions 6 to 10). Each is a simple sum of the points behind your chosen answers, rescaled to a 0 to 10 scale. Your position is then matched to whichever of the six segments sits closest to it on that plane, by straight-line distance.

The questions ask about values and worldview, not AI. That's deliberate: the method this demo illustrates, the Britain Talks Climate and More in Common core beliefs approach, segments people on beliefs that never mention the issue at hand, then reads issue attitudes off per segment afterwards. Asking about AI directly would defeat the point.

These ten items are original placeholders written in the spirit of a core-beliefs battery. They will be replaced by a validated set once the pilot has run.

The mechanic is real: the maths above is exactly what runs in your browser. The six segments themselves, their names, positions and descriptions, are not: they are placeholders we invented to demonstrate the mechanic, not the output of any survey.
